Chris Tenney is a retired schoolteacher and amateur naturalist. After co-authoring Birds of Monterey County (with Don Roberson), his passion shifted from birds to butterflies. He began an inventory of Monterey County butterflies in 2005 and now collaborates with Professor Ryan Hill and students at UOP Stockton on various studies of the butterfly subgenus Speyeria. Jan Austin is a writer/photographer with a life-long love of nature. She is a fourth-generation Monterey County resident. She loves ballroom dancing, hiking, comedy improv and time with her dogs Joy and Star. Her photography website is:
