Thicket Hairstreak
Callophrys spinetorum
Much like the Great Blue Hairstreak, the Thicket Hairstreak is another reclusive, rarely seen species, though seemingly more common in the coastal Santa Lucias than the interior Gabilan range. However it is reliable and regular on a small ridge above the upper end of Pine Canyon Rd., just south and west of the upper locked gate.
Though access is difficult, additional peaks and ridges could be searched in this area in May-June. Later summer flights are also possible.
